Canberra Brainwaves Club
The G.A.T.E.WAYS Brainwaves Club will run at two venues in Canberra in 2009!
Years 4-7 choose from
Canberra Grammar School in Red Hill or Radford College in Bruce
The Brainwaves Club is based on the philosophy that highly able and gifted children have particular needs for stimulations and challenge that match their high level of curiosity and desire to learn. In addition, children with specialised skills and talents, in advance of their age peers, need both affirmation of these abilities and opportunities for development. They also need opportunities to mix with like-minded peers and to form rewarding friendships that further foster their interests, social skills and self-esteem. It is G.A.T.E.WAYS aim to facilitate this positive social interaction in a non-threatening club atmosphere.
The club meets once a month on a Friday after school. Children from Years 4 to 7 take out an annual membership. A guest speaker is invited to each meeting and members take part in a range of interesting and challenging activities.
In 2009, the clubs at both Canberra Grammar School and Radford College will follow the same format:
Members: Years 4-7 (Membership will be restricted to the first 30 students to enrol at each venue)

Introducing a G.A.T.E.WAYS club for Years 7 and 8 in 2009 - DigiTales
This club is for students in Years 7 and 8 who are proficient and passionate about multi-media. It will provide an opportunity to extend on existing skills by learning and applying advanced multi-media concepts.
Through the use of video and photography, members will employ a range of programs to edit, add special effects, and animate their work into games, comics and movies.
Members will have individual access to a work station. They will have a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and foster friendships with other like-minded members of the Club. Members should bring a USB memory stick.
Members: Years 7 and 8 only (Membership will be restricted to the fist 20 students to enrol)
